The Department of Transportation provides the City of Baltimore with a comprehensive and modern transportation system that integrates all modes of travel and provides mobility and accessibility in a convenient, safe and cost-effective manner.

Transportation Goals

The Charm City Circulator’s Orange Route Has Made It’s Debut!

Mayor Sheila Dixon was joined by Baltimore City Department of Transportation Director Alfred H. Foxx and business, tourism and community leaders for a ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the new Charm City Circulator’s Orange Route.

The Charm City Circulator is a fleet of 21 eco-friendly buses that will travel along three routes in Baltimore City. This new fleet of hybrid electric buses is the first of its kind in a major metropolitan area. The shuttles are designed to reduce traffic congestion and greenhouse gases while offering a reliable and convenient alternative mode of transportation. Best of all, the new Charm City Circulator provides free service for everyone.

The success of Baltimore’s future begins with a world-class transit system. The Red Line is at the core of this system, providing a critical east-west link that has the potential to revitalize neighborhoods, protect the natural environment and boost economic empowerment.
