Better Schools. Safer Streets. Stronger Neighborhoods.
BALTIMORE, Md. (November 12, 2014)—Today, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake issued the following statement regarding the passing of Edgar P. Silver, retired judge and delegate.
"I was saddened to learn of retired Judge and Delegate Edgar P. Silver's passing. Judge was a great family friend and someone on whom I could rely to impart sage advice.
As a direct witness to the Great Depression and various global conflicts, Judge maintained a steady hand and open heart. His leadership in the transformation—and ultimate integration—of Baltimore City cannot be understated. He participated in history.
Judge has friends in every corner of this city and across the nation. I will always remember one of his guiding principles: 'Never trade your old friends for new ones—just add on.'
Judge Silver will be dearly missed. Our work builds upon his legacy."
